After the long war in 1783, the government of France and England recognized these 13 colonies as a separate country, named the United States of America. In 1788, the United Nations implemented its constitution and made George Washington the first president.


After becoming a country, America started expanding its empire. In 1803, the United States purchased a large territory of France, Louisiana. In 1848, the US merged California with Mexico.

In World War I, the US exerted military power and emerged as a superpower in World War II using nuclear weapons. The dissolution of the Soviet Union and the end of the peace war came to be known as the United States Superpower in 1991.
