 Gautam Buddha was a great social reformer and the founder of Buddha, Lord Buddha showed the way to the world through his thoughts, he is also called a great philosopher, scientist and religious leader. Gautam Buddha's childhood name was Siddhartha.

Gautam Buddha was born on Baisakh Purnima near Kapilvastu at Lumbini. His parents' names were Mahamaya and Shuddhodana, his father was the ruler of the Shakya kingdom. Gautam Buddha's childhood name was Siddhartha.

Gautam Buddha was solitary, contemplative and kind-hearted since childhood. In only 16 years, Gautam Buddha was married to Princess Yashodhara, they had a son named Rahul.

Siddhartha had all the happiness but there was no peace. So one night, leaving his son and wife, he left home and set out in search of knowledge.

Siddhartha attained enlightenment after staying in samadhi under a banyan tree at a place called Gaya in Bihar for seven days and nights.

The place where Siddhartha attained enlightenment is called Bodh Gaya and the name of that tree is called Bodhi tree.

After attaining enlightenment, Mahatma Buddha gave his first sermon at Sarnath to his five sannyasi companions. These disciples were also called "Panchavagirya".

After attaining enlightenment, Siddhartha became known as Gautam Buddha.

Buddha gave his sermon in Pali language which is as follows-

  • Birth, death, disease, desire all cause suffering.
  • Human desire is the cause of all suffering.
  • One should control the cravings so that one can avoid suffering.
  • There are eight paths to remove worldly sorrows, these have been called the Eightfold Path, which are as follows, giving up thoughts of desire and violence, speaking truth and polite speech, doing right and good deeds, earning money in the right way to live life, bad Staying away from emotions, using good things and behavior, concentrating on any subject, etc.
