History of Rajasthan
The history of Rajasthan starts from the prehistoric period 3000 to 1000 BC, the culture here was like the Indus Valley Civilization. Gujjars ruled most of Rajasthan till the 12th century. Most of Rajasthan was known as Gurjaratra (country protected from Gurjars). After the 12th century, Mewar was ruled by the Guhilots. There were princely states of Mewar, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Bundi, Marwar, Kota, and Alwar, in 1818 all of them accepted the treaty of British alliance.
In 1948, the process of unifying these scattered princely states started, first it was made 'Matsya Sangh', in which only a few princely states joined. In 1956, Delwara Tehsil also merged with Rajasthan. In this way Rajasthan is formed in seven phases.
